The MHP 72° is an OD pedal that's a little left of center, but in ways that a seasoned guitar player is guaranteed to appreciate. At minimum drive settings, it has all of the clarity and presence that you'd expect from a great OD. But it couples a glassy attack with a soft compression as the note decays. And at max gain the MHP 72° doesn't go to mush like some light drive pedals can. It is a balanced combination of articulation, presence, compression, soft clipping, and harmonics that make the MHP 72° stand out from the crowd. 72 DEGREE OD SOUND SNIPPETS
Here's an excellent clip (condensed from the video) courtesy of the awesome Mr. Brett Kingman. Fantastic chops with groove to spare. Wow! Thanks, Brett! 72° Overdrive - Brett Kingman with Clapton Strat
...And with this demo song, you get to hear that the individual characteristics of single coils, humbuckers, and even American or British amplifier tones are retained. The MHP 72° is used on all tracks. 72° Overdrive - Demo Song
The MHP LEAD STONE FUZZ has been an ongoing project for what seems like an eternity. Many criteria had to be met: no Fuzz Face, Tonebender, or Muff clones. It had to have the attitude of silicon, and it had to sound HUGE! We've received requests from bass players too numerous to count for a monster bass fuzz. Plus no RF intereference, uncontrollable oscillations, trebly splat, or inconsistent transistor gain issues - every MHP LEAD STONE FUZZ will sound consistently the same. The MHP LEAD STONE FUZZ brings huge bass but very balanced treble - the mids are dropped a bit like a Muff, but not nearly as sucked out, assuring that you don't get lost in the sauce! As you roll up the treble, the tones gradually get brighter, and the bass starts rolling off, for amps that don't need such a depth charge. Although fuzzes are the earliest of dirt boxes, the MHP LEAD STONE FUZZ is a fairly contemporary tonal design, which is a first for us! Absolutely fantastic for alt rock, bass fuzz, and even heavier modern music. So how does it stack up to a good old ram's head or triangle Muff? It almost makes them sound overly stiff, splatty, and even 2 dimensional in comparison. And we LOVE those old fuzzes! Textured Flint powdercoat finish. $215.00 with FREE (domestic) shipping!
MHP EVELYN
DUAL DRIVENEW! The MHP EVELYN is a bit of a departure from your typical dirt box. There is no op amp chip like a TS type overdrive, no clipping diodes, and no discrete FET's like some popular pedals of late. At the core of the MHP EVELYN are bits and pieces of Craig Anderton's Tube Sound Fuzz, which you might know of better in it's cloned incarnations as the Red Llama or Mule. But the MHP EVELYN is dramatically different. It is capable of both bright and thick tones, but without the mush of it's predecessors. The chip that the MHP EVELYN is built around creates softly clipped distortion compared to op amps and diodes. But what sets the MHP EVELYN apart from the crowd is it's DUAL DRIVE controls. They allow for the utmost flexibility in EQ timbre and gain combinations that are seemingly endless. Drive 1 is bright and crisp, with a good deal of gain. Drive 2 is soft and subtle, with ample bass, and just enough gain to keep things tight. In essence, you blend the two Drive controls to tailor the EQ, dynamics, texture, and dirt level for your specific tastes, as well as your guitar and amplifier. Just two drive knobs right at your fingertips is all you need. No toggles, trimpots, or even separate (let alone multiple!) tone controls are necessary! Pearlescent Sonic Blue powdercoat finish. $122.00 with FREE (domestic) shipping!
The MHP NITROUS
BOOSTVersion 2 is now shipping! It now features a discrete dual gain stage circuit. The first stage is linear in nature, so that you get a true volume boost without any added saturation or treble spikes. And the second stage blends in just the right amount of harmonics and presence, for a bit of the sweet stuff. The dual gain stage setup has advantages over a single stage boost. Two stages that aren't run as hard as a single will produce less noise. The tones are linear until you back off your volume control, and then the presence increases, in effect giving you the best of both worlds. And since the gain stages function so differently, the end result is a mixture of boosted tones that are simply impossible to achieve with a single stage. Why not just a clean boost? Because the Bad Bob by RGW Electronics is simply the best clean boost for the price, in our opinion. Why not a treble booster? Because Rangemaster clones are so simple that they make the perfect DIY pedal project. The MHP NITROUS
BOOST circuit is literally complex in comparison to most other boost designs. Ruby Red Textured powder coat finish. $117.00 with FREE (domestic) shipping!

SD-1 CUTLASS Mod The CUTLASS Mod features less compression, and less of the characteristic TS mid hump. The result is more crispness, and a greater dynamic range. Much fuller low end, with much more detail in the top end. A really great and gigworthy light to medium OD solution! Version 2 CUTLASS's are now shipping and feature the following refinements: -Refined drive circuit retains the crispness, but makes the entire range smoother.
-Passive tone control conversion eliminates noise and provides a more natural sounding frequency response.
-Refined diode clipping array, yielding smoother tones, without compromising any of the extended top end crispness.
-Refined coupling cap values, optimizing the frequency response even further. How does it differ from others' SD-1 mods? No follow the leader 808 spec conversions. It goes from light to moderate overdrive with a significantly different clipping diode setup, and sounds great thoughout the entire range, all without the need for toggles. Modified coupling cap values to enhance balance, and remove some (but not all) of the mid hump, and are vastly different from others' "cap upgrade." Passive tone circuit conversion eliminates noise and provides a more natural sounding frequency response.

SD-1 CUDA Mod The solution for moderately hotter rock tones, but not completely over the top. Plenty of grunt, snarl, and definition. The CUDA Mod features a carefully defined top end, a tight bottom, and a fairly aggressive midrange. More compression, but plenty of bite. The CUDA Moddelivers where many distortion pedals go overboard, or many TS clones just don't have the muscle. Version 2 CUDAs are now shipping and feature the following refinements: -Refined drive circuit keeps all of the signature CUDA Mod characteristics, but makes the entire range smoother. -Passive tone control conversion eliminates noise and provides a more natural sounding frequency response. -Refined coupling cap values, optimizing the frequency response even further. How does it differ from others' SD-1 mods? It goes many steps further than just a "TS plus," extra drive, or 2X gain mod that others offer. It's not completely different from a stock SD-1, but much more aggressive, compressed, and tight, with plenty of OD midrange. The stock clipping diodes are completely removed, and the circuit is modified in other areas with different components than traditional diodes to generate the OD tones and compression that you won't find in anyone else's "TS on steroids" type of modification. Passive tone circuit conversion eliminates noise and provides a more natural sounding frequency response.

DS-1 BEACON ModNEW! For numerous reasons, the original orange pedal seems to be synonymous with shredding, and most mods that you'll find on the 'net seem to center around the words Marshall, Boogie, JCM800, or even Diezel! But we've been working on this old guy for a good long time now, and there are some serious "non shredding" qualties to it, if modded the right way! The main purpose for the BEACON Mod was to take advantage of some of the extra hair and snap that the pedal has, along with the semi flat frequency response, but dump a good bit of the gain, and make it morph into SUPER CLEAN MODE with a mere twist of the your guitar's volume knob. In other words, we wanted to make it into an old school rock pedal that could rival the best "transparent" TS type clones on the market. If your style leans towards the clean with hot overtones side of the tracks, this is your pedal! If you play single coils or low output PAF's, Filtertrons, or even P90's, this is your pedal! How does it differ from others' DS-1 mods? This mod completely raises the bar and charts a new course for the DS-1, in our opinion. The sucked out mids, razor blade treble, and hypertrophic compression are ALL removed. We've addressed some key parts of the stock DS-1 circuit that are completely ignored by the rest of the modding crowd. This pedal was a tough nut to crack in regards to the stock op amp chip. We finally found an "old school" type IC that really works with this mod. If you've had the pleasure of playing a really good dirt box that seems to float some of the clean signal over top of some hair that's just below the surface, the BEACON Mod will feel like a good old friend! $47.50 to mod yours. $97.50 brand new. SOUND CLIP: Here's the BEACON Mod in an extended clip, with low output spanky single coils into a Vibrolux Reverb. The pedal is ON the entire time - all clean passages are done with the twist of the guitar's volume knob.
DS-1 SUPER SPORT Mod Stock, the DS-1 is shy on midrange, and has distortion to spare: both to it's detriment for OD purposes. The SUPER SPORT Mod is a little different from others' DS-1 mods, since we tailor it for OD purposes specifically. We brought up the mids appropriately, sans extra switches or controls, and tamed the harmonic overload, mellowing out the top end to a sane amount. We decreased the amount of drive, and killed a bunch of noise in the process. Now you can max the drive knob and stay firmly planted in the world of rock. Also a great choice for more modern rock tones from the 90's forward. How does it differ from others' DS-1 mods? We didn't want drastic shifts in compression, gain, or output, so no diode toggles are necessary. The stock diode circuit is actually replaced with different components for rounder distortion, without any fizz. We don't increase the gain, sustain, or harmonics to make it into a metal pedal. You can roll down the drive knob and get some nicelightOD tones as well - listen to the intro of the sound clip for proof. $47.50 to mod yours. $97.50 brand new. FREE (domestic) shipping! TS Series L.I.M. ModNEW! Less Is More - that's what L.I.M. stands for. In some aspects, it's similar to the CUTLASS Mod, but the TS line is different enough that it deserves it's own twist on the theme. Each alteration or enhancement is aimed at being subtle, so as not to trash the vibe of the green box that started the OD pedal craze. The clipping diode array is altered slightly to relieve a bit of compression, to open things up just a bit more than a stock TS. Likewise, the tone circuit is also modified to open things up, but not drastically. And the mid hump is shifted down a subtle amount. Any caps in the signal path that are pretty funky low quality stuff are replaced during the mod. And it only makes sense to change the two resistors in the output section that everyone else does, because it's a basic alteration that has audible merit, and should be done just on principal. The L.I.M. Mod is available for the TS9, TS808 Reissue, OD9, and OD808.How does it differ from others' TS series mods? It is not an 808 conversion, since everyone else offers some twist on that. There is no "2X gain" mod performed, since the predominating input that we received was not to meddle with that aspect, so we keep it as is. There are no "mojo" mods with the L.I.M. - only alterations that make a subtle but discernible difference. $37.50 to mod yours. FREE (domestic) shipping! Sound clips to come. Get Yours Modified
BD-2 GALAXIE Mod If you've been searching for a mod for the BD-2 that plays to it's true strengths, and has tone and gain controls that sound great throughout the entire range, then read on! We've reduced the gain to soften the tones, which gives the harmonics more room to work. You trade a touch of boost for a bunch of tone. The GALAXIE Mod sounds absolutely fat and round through the brightest amp. The tonal balance was completely overhauled, so that the tone control is completely functional. And a GALAXIE Mod at max gain has zero splat, and no mush! No need to go to mimimum tone settings to reduce excess treble and squealing feedback. How does it differ from others' BD-2 mods? We removeall six of the clipping diodes and optimize the pedal to work without them, allowing the FET's to provide their true potential. The GALAXIE Mod is our most labor intensive offering to date. We address TEN different resistors alone, while other modders typically only change capacitors. Possibly the best bang for the buck FET-based OD pedal mod that you'll find. $57.50 to mod yours. $147.50 brand new. FREE (domestic) shipping! Get Yours NewGet Yours Modified
How Is MHP Different? Much more than 808 conversions. Notably different from "lock step" mods that are easily found elsewhere. Much more than just upgrading components (although it's a good starting point). No straight up replication of classic designs - there's already a ton of folks doing that.
No BS. Our pedal and mod descriptions are up front, with concrete terms, without the mojo speak that you're so accustomed to reading elsewhere. You will never pay "ego fees" - we aren't gurus or magicians. We simply work hard to get great tones from pedals.
No Ridiculous Markup. We only sell direct and locally. No advertising, marketing campaigns, or slick website.
No Gimmicks. Our designs avoid the use of toggles, trimpots, or additional controls when modding existing designs. A great dirt box should be simple and effortless to dial in a winning tone.
Locally Built, From Conception to Completion. Everything is done in house. And it's all priced competitively, even though we refuse to outsource anything. If that's a combination that appeals to you, we really think that you'll love what we have to offer.
More Than Mods. MHP hand built designs are now available. You can look forward to new designs periodically.
